ABOUT US

We have been established in the North East since the early part of the twentieth century, trading as Cooperative Launderers, offering a collection and delivery service by horse and cart. In the 1930s we moved on from horse and cart to motor vans.

With the onset of dry cleaning in the late 1940s, a domestic service was offered on the high street with shops trading as Cooperative Cleaners.

In 1989 Cooperative Laundries and Cooperative Cleaners were acquired by the Sunlight Service Group. Sunlight is part of the Davis Service Group Plc which is a leading provider of European textile and rental services and is quoted on the London Stock Exchange.

Sunlight is the UK’s market leader in textile repair and laundering services for industry, commerce, the NHS and the public sector; operating throughout the country. However almost all of the domestic dry cleaning and laundry shops are situated in North East.
